This image was taken in Chefchaouen, Morocco. Also known as ‘The Blue Pearl’ of Morocco for its traditional houses painted in blue and white.
There’s a bit of debate about why the town is painted blue, and whether it’s just to attract tourists. But one explanation was that the colour blue represents the sky, which reminded the people of heaven and God.
A short hike up to the Spanish mosque will take you to this viewpoint, where you can see the medina from above.
